Many women make the mistake of thinking that a guy is their best girlfriend. The challenge with this thought is that guys do not think the same as women and they get bored easily. Because of this it is as easy to turn them off as it is to bring them to you.

Most men have a way of thinking about everything in life and they are usually opinionated. Although many say they are an open book, they have a way of evolving over time differently than women do. So, there are a few things that make them cringe when they hear them from you.

Here are five things men hate to hear that sometimes make them want to run:

1. You are so cute -- men hate the word cute. They reserve this for puppies and little kids. When you tell them they are cute they worry about what that means. They are supposed to be your protector but cute and protector or cute and superhero do not go together. Handsome they can deal with because it lets them maintain their dignity.
2. We need to talk -- this is a number one way to make a guy run. He doesn't really know what this means but he knows it is going to make him unhappy and it is probably going to be a serious conversation. With that in mind, he automatically will try to get out of it. Any approach where you can ease him into a serious discussion in a way that he will feel comfortable is a better approach.
3. There's nothing wrong -- men can tell by the look on your face that something is wrong but they are not mind readers. They will not try to make you feel better by guessing what is wrong. It is better to just tell them so they can respond to the right situation.
4. Oh, sorry, I'm sounding like my mother -- men hate the thought that the women they married or that they are dating could some day turn into their mothers. To them, this means the woman will no longer be hot and sexy. This scares them so bad many will run for the door.
5. Isn't that the most beautiful sunset? -- Men love to watch nature but they like to do it in silence. When you call attention to something that is obvious, they would rather just experience it instead of hearing you go on and on about it.

There are many things that men will listen to and still be a part of your life, but they want to be sure that you understand they are just simple creatures. They do not need a lot in life, but they do want someone on their arm that they can connect with and who understands that they are different.

When you are dating a guy he will stay interested if you talk about things he understands instead of those things that make him cringe. Both of you will be happier.
