Does it work to play hard to get?

Men and women have been playing games since the Garden of Eden and playing hard to get is one of those games. It does not matter to a guy if a woman does this because it is actually more frustrating to him than cute. Playing hard to get can turn a guy off especially if he isn't that interested.

When you really like a guy or you are going on the first date, it makes no sense to play hard to get. It is by far an easier task to be yourself and get to know him. Game playing always will mean hurt feelings in the long run and why do you want to risk it?

Many women think that playing hard to get will make a man more interested because she will appear mysterious. This is not true for most men.  He really doesn’t think that far ahead and he just wants to get a date. It is very simple to him -- either you want to go on a date or you do not. They do not like the hassle of playing the game.

Instead of playing hard to get, it is better to be yourself and move forward with the guy to see whether he is a fit for you. Here are some guidelines to help:

Be naturally you -- You have a personality that naturally comes out and this is what you should show on your first date. Let him get to know you while you are getting to know him. This does not mean to put all your insecurities out front or anything, it means to let him get to know the real you minus any game playing.

Get him to talk -- in first dates it is important to find out whether you want to go out with this guy again or not. This means you have to listen to him at a very deep level. Be a good listener and he will reveal how he really feels about women and relationships. Ask a question, then sit back and listen to his reply. This will tell you whether you want a second date.

Take the time to have fun -- many times the first date is the most difficult because you are with a stranger. If you can put yourself into the mode to have fun, you'll be able to relax. This will make a difference as to whether you can see the date for what it really is or whether you blow it off.

If it doesn’t work let him know - -after the first date women always know whether the guy is someone they want to date again. If he isn't, it's better to be honest and move on.

When you are on your first date being honest and upfront is a lot easier than playing the game of hard to get. Most of all make sure you are safe when you date and don't take risks with this stranger. Make a second date instead of inviting him in for drinks after the date.
