Money Can Be The Root of a Dull Date

Money will always come up whether it is the first date or the last. Women cannot rely on the idea that the guy will always pay because today there are new rules around money and dating. Some women and men will get offended when they are not allowed to pick up the check, but others do not care.

How can you tell if your date will pick up the check? You cannot figure that out just by reading his mind so the two of you have to discuss it ahead of time. Sometimes guys insist on paying for a date but this is not always true. Better to check it out first before you go or you might be embarrassed when the check comes.

The rule of thumb today is if you ask someone on a date, you are the one who pays. This keeps things simple. If the guy asks you out, he pays but you can pickup the tip or pay for parking. In this way both people know that the other is willing to pay for something.

When it is the first date and the guy wants to pay, let him. You can pay for it another time. This does not mean that he is taking control of you; it is just one of the rules of dating that make sense.

There are also a couple of things to consider when you are doing the asking. Many women want to go to expensive places for a date but it is better to go to a place that is moderately priced. This allows both parts of the couple to afford it or to split the check and still have it be a reasonable cost.

When you go to a restaurant do not order the most expensive entrée. This can be a turnoff to a date immediately because he thinks you are trying to take advantage of him. Also, do not try to impress your date by showing a lot of money. This will be a problem in the future if you can't keep this up.

Men and women can feel taken advantage of if one person is the one who pays for all of the dates. Instead, make sure that you at least offer to do it because this just makes good sense. Some men believe they are to pay for things all the time but they at least like the fact that you ask or attempt to pay.

Money is a difficult topic to talk about especially when you are beginning to date. However, it is better to discuss this up front so that you know where each other stands on the issue. Do not expect that someone automatically knows what you are thinking.

When you are dating this is a really good time to get an idea of how the other person deals with and thinks about money. Observe how they work with it and whether this style is compatible with the way you work with money too.
