Tips on the Five Most Popular First Date Mistakes
Have you ever noticed that no matter how good you are on your first date, there can be something that will go wrong that will stop you from seeing the other person again? It could be something they did or you did but it is always a sign that nothing else is going to happen.
There are some common mistakes that people make when they go on a first date that will just turn the other person off so badly that they cannot recover from it.
Here are the top five to watch out for and make sure that you do not do:
- Not paying the bill when you asked the person out -- if you are the one who asked for the date then it is you who pays. If you do not pay you can appear to be cheap or like you expect to be taken care of and this is a real turnoff whether you are a guy or a gal.
- Alcohol consumption on the first date -- sometimes a little wine with your dinner is a good idea but if you become drunk, this is something that is an immediate turn off. You can ruin a date by vomiting or falling down while you are with someone. This is one to avoid at all cost.
- Bragging about things that aren't important - it can be a real turnoff to another person if you brag about how much money you have, the car you drive or the fact that you have connections. This will make someone yawn politely and go home early.
- Being rude to anyone on the date-- if you are rude to your date, to a waiter or a doorman the person you are with will have an impression of you as rude. They will assume this is part of your personality. Instead, always be polite no matter what the situation.
- Talking about topics that should be left for future dates -- things like how your exes treat you, your sexual fantasies or how you expect a certain food will react in your stomach are all things that will be a turnoff. People don't like to discuss these matters and they certainly don't like to hear about them on a first date.
Sometimes people are nervous on a first date and all of these things will come into play because they are not sure what to say or to do next. If you get nervous, instead of rambling on about nothing in particular, ask your date a question and wait for the response.
Approach the date as something that is fun instead of something that is scary. This will allow you to relax and get to know the individual instead of trying to be something that you are not.
The first date should be the start of several more instead of one that is met with problems. Knowing what not to do, can create a positive experience for both of you. |
