What Can You Do With A Guy Who's Cheap?

The question is, "What do you mean by cheap?" Many guys are very frugal with their money and they do not like to spend it at all. This doesn't necessarily mean they are cheap but rather that they like to spend their money wisely.

Some women believe that a man should spend a lot of money on them to show that they care. Sometimes a guy won't spend money on a woman until he is sure that he is going to be with her for a long time.

Cheap really depends on your perception and it may not be his. Does cheap mean that he doesn't like to spend money at all? Does he not spend money to take you out? Also, what do you want him to do that he is not doing?

Part of the challenge is that two people may have a different way of seeing money and how to use it. This may not be something they talk about so it may be time to have a conversation. Don’t call him cheap during the conversation but instead talk about what your values are around money.

During the conversation ask him about his way of dealing with money. Does he have a fear of spending? Does money make him feel more secure? Couples need to understand how each person came to money and what it means. This will resolve many problems in the future.

Talk to him about how you feel when he doesn't spend money on you. If you are feeling that he doesn’t value you because of this tell him. He may have a very different attitude if he knows that you are feeling like he doesn’t care. There is a chance that he doesn’t value you in that way you want so be prepared.

You can always make a compromise with him. Maybe you can go out on a date and you pay once, then he pays the next time.

If this works, great. But if he is still showing reluctance to spend money on you, it may mean that he is not the right person for you. Also, you will need to decide how long you will wait for him to reciprocate in the financial department. If he just won't spend money, it may be time for you to let him go.

Some men just do not like to spend money and others don't know when to stop. You will want someone in your life that has the same values as you do around money so that the two of you can talk about it.

Money has stopped many people from having a healthy relationship so it is important to know how he stands in the beginning. If he is willing to make a compromise, this may mean he wants to please you, which means you can work together and he is a keeper. If on the other hand he is not willing to work with you, it may be time to kick him to the curb.
