I grew up in Ohio, graduating in the Class of ''85 from Glenwood High School in New Boston, where I was known as "Smitty-O" or "Captain Smitty-O." Following High School, I spent 81/2 years in the Air Force. While in the Air Force I was given an "all expense paid trip" to Saudi Arabia, it wasn''t much of a vacation, we ended up having a Desert Storm while I was there. While in the Air Force I had many great experiences and training. After leaving the Air Force I spent about 81/2 years working in the corporate world as a Security Operations, Life Safety and Emergency Manager. (later the job title was changed to Administrative Services Operation Manager..oh bigger title, more responsibility..no more $..go figure.e) After all those years of service the company layed everyone off and closed its doors. After that apparently still a glutton for corporate world punishment, I went to work for another large (global) company as the Northern Colorado Security Operations Manager. Today, I have since left the corporate world behind, through the Emergency Management Institute FEMA/Homeland Security)I completed the Master Exercise Practitioner Course and now work in Emergency Preparedness as an Emergency Preparedness Exercise Coordinator and Assistant Emergency Operations Communication Center Manager.
